The Internal Communications team is responsible for planning, producing, and distributing communications to employees across the organisation. This covers everything from company-wide announcements and leadership messaging to change communications, campaign planning, and the management of internal channels such as email newsletters, intranet news and digital signage platforms. The team typically owns the editorial calendar and acts as the gatekeeper for what reaches employees and through which channel.
Beyond content production, the team is increasingly involved in channel strategy and governance, ensuring that messages reach the right audiences without creating noise or overload. In organisations with a mature digital workplace, Internal Communications often works closely with the Intranet Team and Digital Workplace Team to align publishing standards, manage content ownership, and shape how the intranet functions as a communications channel.
Beyond channels and platforms, Internal Communications also works closely with leaders at every level, helping them communicate strategy effectively, build trust with their teams, and translate organisational priorities into messages that resonate with employees.
